1. Oral characteristics of preschool children

The oral cavity of preschool children is in the deciduous dentition period, and there are 20 small deciduous teeth in the oral cavity. During this period, children are lively and active, and improper care is prone to trauma, resulting in loose and broken teeth. In addition, deciduous tooth decay develops rapidly, and if it is not found in time, it may develop into pulpitis, periapical periodontitis, etc. Parents should strengthen their children's oral care and do a good job as a "gatekeeper" for their children's oral health.

2. Common oral problems of preschool children

Prevention of deciduous tooth caries

① Parents should not only let their children develop good oral hygiene habits, but also help them brush their teeth with fluoride toothpaste in the morning and evening;

②Parents help their children use dental floss to clean the adjacent surfaces of teeth, otherwise adjacent surface caries will easily occur;

③Dietary guidance, scientific sugar intake, balanced dietary structure, no partial eclipse or picky eater, gargle after meals, reduce food retention, and stop eating before going to bed.

Interventions for caries in primary teeth

1. Pit and fissure closure

Pit and fissure sealing is an effective measure to prevent molar caries.

Pit and fissure closure time :

①3-4 years old → deciduous molars;

②6-9 years old → first permanent molars (sixth age teeth);

③11-13 years old → second permanent molars;

④Molar teeth with deep fissures and fissures but not suffering from caries.

2. Topical Fluoride

Babies should have regular oral examinations from the age of 2. After evaluation by a doctor, fluoride should be applied to prevent caries according to the risk of caries. If necessary, the doctor will apply a high concentration of fluoride (fluoride protective paint) to the surface of the teeth to form a protective film to protect the baby's teeth.

Tips: The benefits of fluoride

① Fluorine is one of the essential trace elements in the human body, which can prevent or prevent the occurrence and development of caries;

② The enamel on the surface of the teeth can absorb fluoride, which increases the acid resistance of the teeth and is beneficial to the remineralization of the teeth.

Treatment of deciduous tooth trauma:

(1) Seek medical attention in time;

(2) Observe whether the child has dizziness, vomiting, open mouth shape, and whether the arrangement of teeth is different from usual, and tell the doctor in detail;

(3) Avoid biting with traumatic teeth;

(4) If the trauma causes the tooth to completely fall out of the socket, pinch the crown of the tooth, refer to the adjacent tooth, and try to place the lost tooth in the cavity or in the sublingual saliva environment, or put it in normal saline or milk.
